ColorCote MagnaFlow (formerly ZM8)
Description

Magna flow is a pre-painted roofing or cladding steel substrate with magnesium added technology for superior corrosion resistance.

The addition of magnesium to the standard zinc/aluminium alloy-coated steel substrate enables the zinc to ‘flow’, which seals the cut edges, preventing exposure to premature corrosion. This makes it ideal for harsher environments and those nearer the coast.

Key Features
  • Unique alloy technology combines zinc, aluminium with magnesium that allows the zinc to literally flow and self heal the cut edges that would otherwise expose the steel substrate to atmospheric conditions.
  • MagnaFlow may also be ordered as MagnaFlow X, with a 70% PVDF top coat, for greater paint protection in industrial environments where corrosive chemicals are present.
  • Outstanding gloss, colour retention and durability.
  • Available in over 40 colours.
Scope of Use

The superior corrosion resistance of MagnaFlow means it is an ideal choice for more demanding environments, such as severe marine environments close to the coast, as well as industrial sites where cladding is exposed to high ph (alkaline) cleaning products, such as dairy factories, fertiliser processing & storage facilities or abattoirs.

Where there are corrosive chemicals present in the atmosphere, it is advisable to use MagnaFlow X, with a 70% PVDF topcoat.

MagnaFlow is ideal for animal shelters, flashings, interior uses, and exterior environments where corrosion levels are moderate.

Limitations on Use

ColorCote MagnaFlow and MagnaFlow X are not suitable for use in the following situations:

  • For water tanks or areas where a constantly wet environment is maintained.
  • In direct contact with concrete or where lime deposits are evident.
  • In contact with soil (allow a 75mm run off below cladding sheets to ground level).
  • Roofs with pitches less than three degrees (eight degrees for corrugated profile).
Statement of Building Code Compliance

ColorCote MagnaFlow and MagnaFlow X, under normal well washed conditions of exposure, can be expected to show no cracking (other than that which may occur during forming), flaking or peeling of the paint film for 15 years from the date of installation.
