Removing moisture from bathrooms, toilets, laundries and kitchens is a requirement of the Building Code section E3 — Internal Moisture, and G4 — Ventilation. Most ventilation systems in bathrooms consist of three parts — fan, ducting and grilles, which all contribute to the overall performance of the system. Selecting the right type and size of fan is important for ensuring adequate airflow in a bathroom or laundry. All the air flow rates are normally quoted as “free-air” performance, and adding ducting and grills reduces this value.
The type of duct, duct length, and how the duct is installed will have a massive effect on the air-flow rates in any ventilation system. Good installation practice with flexible ducting is vital in achieving optimum air flow rates. All ducting needs to be pulled tight and with as few bends as possible to ensure the system is as efficient as possible.
The type of grilles selected don’t have a large effect on the overall air-flow rate in a ventilation system. The type of internal and external grille selected is determined by the installation requirements and personal preference.
Internal Grilles
Bond Grilles
Ideal for bathrooms and laundries, Bond Grilles suit 150mm Ducting and are suitable for use with all inline fans. They are available in square and round fascias in both White and Black. Designed for easy installation and cleaning, the fascias are held in place with magnets allowing easy removal. All versions are designed with minimal impact on the air flow performance.
Illusion Grilles
Vynco's Illusion Grilles offer a sleek and minimalistic design for seamless installation in plasterboard ceilings. The grilles suit standard 150mm ducting. The grilles can be painted in any colour, and offer visual appeal without impacting air flow performance.
External Grilles
Reacher Grilles
Reacher Grilles are available in fixed louvre and cowl to suit external surfaces without impacting on the air flow performance. They are designed for NZ outdoor conditions with High UV with additional bird and bug protection, and offer easy installation with most exterior cladding systems.
Magnum Grille
Magnum Grilles are an all aluminium exterior powder coated grille for use with 150mm ducting. They are supplied with a fan fitted to the grille which reduces the internal noise and provides a high free air flow rate. Ideal for narrow ceiling spaces where fitting an inline fan is difficult, Magnum Grilles are available in Gunmetal Grey, Satin Black and Arctic White.
