Let’s start with the Ocean and dive right in.
Just one Vynco Ocean oyster light saves 1.96kg in carbon dioxide — the equivalent weight of 10 large oranges.
A hundred Ocean oyster lights — about 1,000 oranges.
A thousand Oceans? 1,960kg in carbon dioxide — the weight of 10,000 oranges.
Ten thousand Oceans — well, now we're talking about an orchard!
And all this while retaining a premium light fitting product that will look great and last the distance in homes or businesses.
At Vynco sustainability is a huge priority. A move away from virgin plastic is part of that mission.
"It's what gets me up in the morning," says General Manager Darron Beck. "We want to create products that help the planet, not destroy it... It's what the next generation deserves and expects".
Traditional plastics are made from oil — a fossil fuel that harms and carbonises the planet. And while some products need elements of virgin plastics, some don’t… and that’s where Vynco is determined to make change.
Bioplastics — made from renewable biomass sources such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, wood chips and recycled food waste — are a game-changer. Post-consumer recycled plastics — or PCR — are made from ground-down plastics.
The Beach batten has elements of both. Just one of these saves 0.94kg in carbon dioxide — the weight of 100 kiwifruit! And — given the Beach isn’t made with virgin crude oil — there’s a 183ml saving there too! Waste polycarbonate not entering landfill? Twenty Beach battens prevent 1kg getting dumped.
Or if grapes are your jam… there’s Vynco’s Glacier underverandah.
One of these produces 3.5kg less carbon dioxide — the same weight as 700 grapes or three bottles of wine! Now we’ve piqued your interest.
One hundred Glaciers, we’re talking 350kg of carbon dioxide saved — or one BARREL of wine.
We know it’s a stretch from light fittings to fruit, but just how much good this environmentally-friendly range of fittings can do… is not.
