Design, Glass and Lighting Commingle at M11 Studio

Located in a transformed space at 11 McColl Street, Newmarket, Auckland, M11 is a new salon that exudes charm and elegance. Designed by Young + Richards architects and interior designer Lauren Hare, the project received the Supreme Award and the Retail Award at the 2016 Interior Awards.

The unique, contemporary high-end hair salon draws inspiration from the minimalist art forms and mirrored box-like sculptures of Donald Judd and Robert Morris.

Installed by Euroglass, Viridian Glass's Auckland installation branch, the project is a true showcase of what can be achieved when design, glass and lighting commingle in one location.

A bespoke beauty box sits in the middle of the salon. Featuring grey mirrored glass with steel at the base of the channel, its entrance is a Moritz frameless pivot door. This door also includes the clever addition of a steel channel connected to the base of the glass, so that the steel appears to run continuously when the door is closed.

The studio is lined beautifully with Viridian Glass mirrors throughout. The well placed mirrors create an open and inviting space that enhances the studio's natural light.

This M11 project is Viridian's first entry for the 2017 Glazing Awards which were held on Friday 16 June.
