Over recent years, the 'timber look' has come back into vogue and along with it requirements for a timber top rail with an aluminium balustrade. Today's exciting architectural trends are showcasing the natural beauty of timber and woodgrain finishes. Unex has taken this to a new level, with their aluminium balustrade fitted with a timber top rail. There are two options to achieve this stylish look:
Firstly, designers can utilise any of the proprietary Unex Balustrade styles and powder coat the top rail in a timber look design using a photo imaging process. Aluminium is a low maintenance, easy-care option which retains its attractive finish. There are no timber leaching hassles, so the rest of the balustrade and glass are not spoiled. Aluminium is also very durable as it doesn't rot, split, twist or fade, and it is not subject to insect attack, unlike timber.
However, for those clients who would prefer the feel of genuine timber, Unex recommends the use of a hardwood timber top rail in conjunction with the Unex Aluminium Balustrade system and inner rail. This specification relies on the inner rail for strength, so designers can be assured that they are offering a compliant solution. One word of advice though; watch out for timbers that leach.
