Koa Flats has an undeniable character in its community, representing a future-proof complex designed for discerning residents. Ockham Koa Flats has certainly caught attention with its sleek exterior appeal. Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson has praised the building for delivering "great design, liveability and affordability," while also emphasising the importance of using quality materials and products that meet or exceed building codes and regulations.

With a prime setting in Auckland, New Zealand, this multi-storey Ockham property’s exterior boasts high-quality finishes suited for a smart housing building. These finishes are the result of a collaboration with UNEX to update balconies and stair balustrades to create must-have finishing touches. UNEX, which is a well-known provider of visually appealing, high-quality products that are durable and exceptionally efficient, was an easy choice as a design partner for this task.

What led to the stunning final facade of the building was a successful collaboration, aimed at meeting the project's design requirements in every aspect. Here, two teams brought their expertise together for a bespoke project.

UNEX Systems worked closely with Ockham and Kirk Roberts Consulting Engineers to create custom-engineered balustrades and PS1s that met all relevant building codes and regulations.

UNEX knew from the outset that the Hampton Framed Balustrade System with its curved extrusions would be ideally suited. Offering 50 x 16mm fins set between vertical square posts, these balustrades can perfectly create privacy without obstructing views or hampering an existing design.

For Koa Flats, this system resulted in a signature custom look that enhanced the building's unique deck design. Minimalistic-looking, yet modern and sleek, the Hampton Framed Balustrade system is made from high-quality aluminium and has a long-lasting powder-coated finish for excellent durability and corrosion resistance.

The project required a total of 109 linear metres of balustrade, including retaining walls, balcony, and stair balustrades. Thanks to its easy adaptability, the UNEX Hampton Framed Balustrade System was adjusted to include curved extrusion, slim fine-style balusters and posts that matched the building's overall design aesthetic, while also providing the necessary safety and functionality required by building codes.

With a refined, superior look, the Hampton Framed Balustrade system has been an excellent choice for the Ockham Koa Flats project. It created a modern and functional residential building that is sure to be enjoyed by residents for years to come.
