Porcelain Pavers for a Backyard Oasis

With summer just around the corner it’s the perfect time to complete any outdoor landscaping projects in preparation for alfresco living. Porcelain pavers from The Tile Depot are a fabulous option for any hardscape areas that are being considered. 20mm thick, they are a porcelain product designed specifically for exterior use and can be either fixed to a solid substrate, installed on elevated deck jacks, or laid like traditional concrete and stone garden pavers. The benefits of porcelain pavers are many, including bringing the beauty of interior tile designs to the outdoors, in a durable, impervious, non-slip surface, that doesn’t require any sealing and can withstand the harsh conditions of exterior entertainment areas.

This Auckland family recently transformed their old and tired barked playground area into a stunning Mediterranean styled oasis. Featuring a gorgeous pool from Element Pools, they chose porcelain pavers from the Tile Depot to complete their pool surround and connect to the existing decking and garden areas. The pavers wrapped around both the pool and house in a seamless network of pathways and exterior living areas.

The paver they selected is called 2cm Stone Valley White 600 x 600mm. It has a lovely stone design with gorgeous crosscut veining that really captures the Mediterranean vibe they were after, as well as being a practical design for exterior areas. It even comes in a matching interior finish, that they could extend into the interior of their home in the future.

Another feature of the Stone Valley collection that makes it a great option as a pool surround, is the matching 300 x 600mm bullnose pavers, which make gorgeous, rounded pool copings. However, in this instance, the particular model of pool the clients chose couldn’t accommodate the rounded bullnose design, so the Tile Depot arranged for custom-made angled pool copings to be manufactured in the Stone Valley White. The result is simply spectacular.

And while the children’s original playground was demolished to make way for this new pool area, their relocated playground has barely been touched as they have really embraced having a pool, using it every spare moment, rain or shine. All before the warm summer weather arrives!
