Herman Pacific applies Wood-X directly to cedar on new residential projects as it slows the moisture uptake of timber, helping to improve the overall stability of exterior timber.  It also imparts anti-fungal and water repellent qualities, although as with any other wood-stain or oil finish, Wood-X needs regular re-coating to keep the finish looking good.
