Tarkett Vinyls Go Green

The Eminent, Granit, Megalit, Optima, Micra Premium and Primo Premium ranges have close to zero VOC emissions (i.e. below quantifiable levels), and have become phthalate free. Tarkett is now certified by GreenTag Green Rate to Level A, which allows full points allocation for NZ Green Star requirements IEQ-13 (Indoor Air Quality) and MAT-9 or MAT-C (Materials Flooring).

GreenTag also incorporates an innovative LCARate system (life-cycle assessment), which awards eco-points based on the environmental and health impacts of a product from the point of sourcing and refining the raw materials, transport, manufacturing and disposal, over the whole life of the product. Eco-points are also awarded in five other sustainability categories – building synergy, health and ecotoxicity, biodiversity, greenhouse gases and corporate social responsibility — and then computed to give a score, the lower the better. For example, Eminent scores 0.42.

The unique feature of the LCARate system is the ability to then compare the eco-point score across products to establish the most eco-friendly. The Tarkett ranges listed above have all scored a Gold Plus LCARate, and delivered the best eco-point scores of all resilient products from all manufacturers rated.
