Every now and again a residential project will come along that ticks all the boxes, the type of project that you can’t wait to see completed as all the design elements combined are going to be truly spectacular.
Recently completed in Hamilton, 28 Awatere Avenue was one such project. The initial design was exciting, and having previously worked with Holcroft Prestige on other projects the expectation was that the finished product would be of the highest possible quality.
When you have an elevated site and river views, the most important thing you want to achieve is good perimeter protection without compromising those all-important sightlines.
To deliver a contemporary look without posts, Spectrum’s Seamless Fin balustrade was specified for the riverside balustrade. Seamless fin is a modern post-less balustrade system that replicates the look of traditional steel balustrade but has the benefit of being manufactured from long lasting powder coated aluminium. Eliminating the posts gives the balustrade a clean and contemporary look, and the matt iron-sand finish specified for this project provides great contrast against the crisp white plastered finishes whilst blending seamlessly with other vertical elements.
Roadside, one of the most striking features is the building façade which is covered in 100 x 50mm black aluminium fins positioned at 200mm centres to align perfectly with the ribs on the Colorsteel Longrun roof. The effect this piece of clever design achieved is the illusion that the fins run up the front of building and continue across the roof. Designhouse Architecture continued the use of vertical fins to blend the building façade, gates, and balustrades as one strongly integrated design feature.
28 Awatere Ave is an excellent example of how Spectrum can deliver a broad range of products from balustrade, louvres, and facades to give a project a fully integrated and seamless look.
