Go Off the Grid with Forman Solar Hot Water Heating Systems and Wind Turbines

With a new and expanding range of energy-conscious systems, Forman can supply a system suited for any project.

Forman carries two solar hot water heating systems: Kingspan Thermomax HP400 and Variosl HP. Both of these systems are world-renowned evacuated-tube solutions which come with a 20-year warranty when installed by an accredited installer.

Both systems are dry heat pipe collectors with a closed connection, ensuring both installation and maintenance are easy. Both systems are 30% more effective compared to flat plate collectors and work all year around, from dawn till dusk. An additional benefit of the Varisol HP system is that it is ‘click and fit’, which means that individual tubes can be added to the system, allowing flexibility of installation, and the system can be supplied down to the exact number of tubes to fulfill the project requirement.

An example of the innovative solutions Kingspan Solar can create is Lane Community College, based in Oregon. The original plans for this community college involved the use of trellis down the front of the building to ensure shading from the sun in the main lobby. The goal was to reduce the cooling load on the building in summer and increase privacy in the evenings.

Kingspan Thermomax solar evacuated tubes created an ideal solution as a replacement trellis. Not only did it meet the requirements of shading and privacy, it also was aesthetically pleasing and generated heat for domestic hot water supply.

Forman is also involved in energy-efficient LED lighting. Forman has recently completed an LED fit-out for Laminex Te Rapa, where a combination of 130W and 150W LED high bays acted as replacements for traditional 400W metal halide high bays. The new fixtures were paired with a dimming system and lux sensors, allowing for minimal lighting to be used when natural light was available through skylights. During the evening sensors allowed the fixtures to be set to a minimal light level until motion sensors sensed movement, with lights automatically ramping up to meet lighting requirements. The end result of this fitout was energy savings in excess of 80% based on existing lighting and a payback period of two years.

Finally, Forman Building Systems now offer Kingspan Wind 3KW and 6KW turbines, suitable for a number of applications. These are the world’s most robust small-scale wind turbines and come with a five-year product warranty.

Forman Building Systems is exhibiting at this years BuildNZ Expo, ASB Showgrounds, Auckland, 23-25 June 2013. Visit them at stand #267 to check out LED lighting solutions, a Thermomax solar display and wind turbine demo.
