The stage of Waterford Apartments at Hobsonville completed in November 2019 included shower and change cubicles associated with the swimming pool for the Waterford lifestyle village complex being developed by Classic Group.
Architect Ian Speirs (Sevenstoke Architecture Ltd) explains that because the pool change cubicles are unisex, and each cubicle includes a bench seat, they opted for maximum privacy which required floor to ceiling height partitions between each one, and 2.7m high doors. “We probably stretched Resco a bit on this one, but they came through,” says Ian. “The end result definitely delivered what we wanted.”
Having previously worked with Resco’s Compact Laminate products, Ian is familiar with the quality and capability of the Resco range which he describes as having an excellent colour selection. For the recent Waterford project he says he specified Resco’s “sturdiest” cubicle system, the Storm range, with “floor to ceiling support and minimal crevices to clean”.
Another key factor in choosing to use Resco is the space and time-saving design of Resco’s product. “Using Resco allowed us to maximise space in a limited area,” Ian explains. “No timber framing is needed, we know Resco’s cubicles are strong self-supporting units.”
Resco product specialist Clayton Smith said the company has noted an increasing demand for full-height cubicles and partitions. “The Waterford Apartments pool cubicles were a bit of a milestone for us,” says Clayton, “We now know we can do floor to ceiling as standard, not a one-off job.”
Clayton adds: “All Resco Compact Laminate products are extremely low maintenance, water, impact and graffiti resistant, and contain Antibac, an innovative bacteria-repelling compound. Our panels come in New Zealand’s largest choice of colours and are backed by lengthy guarantees.”
