Quietspace Panel Improves Aesthetics and Acoustic Performance at Auckland Cafe

Above the background noise of coffee machines, moving chairs and people talking, staff also noticed a lack in productivity and increased fatigue due to strain caused by yelling over the noise.

An acoustic solution that complemented the modern sophisticated interior aesthetic and created a comfortable environment for customers and staff was an important requirement for Charlie & George.  Ctrl Space specified the use of Autex’s Quietspace Panel to increase sound absorption throughout the café.

Quietspace Panel is engineered for superior sound absorption and balanced acoustic design.  At Charlie & George, multiple 25mm White Quietspace Panel was suspended 200mm from the ceiling.  The clean, finished white surface of Quietspace Panel complemented the interior of the café.

Manufactured with thermally-bonded polyester fibres Quietspace Panel is highly durable and resistant to fading; an essential requirement in an open and light space like Charlie & George.  Lightweight and easy to handle; Quietspace Panel was cut on site and installed in only four hours with minimal disruption for customers and staff alike.

Quietspace Panel is made from a minimum 60% post-consumer recycled polyester fibre, which ensures a comparatively low embodied energy.  Manufactured out of 100% polyester fibre, Quietspace Panel is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-allergenic and 100% recyclable.

The NRC rating for the 25mm panel used is 0.85 meaning that 85% of reverberation is absorbed by the panel.  Once the Quietspace Panel was installed the owners noticed an immediate improvement.  The café felt considerably warmer and more comfortable and the problems around staff fatigue and low productivity, and communication with customers diminished.
