Provista Balustrade Systems has installed aluminium vertical baluster-style balustrades to the decks of two new apartment blocks in ‘the Village’ development in Newtown, Wellington. This is the first two of a total of six blocks to be completed in the coming months. The six apartment blocks at 16-18 Constable Street will provide 56 new two-bedroom homes on a site suited to multi-unit development and close to local amenities.
The apartment blocks feature classically-designed exteriors combining low maintenance brick and masonry materials and finished in contemporary colour combinations. The balustrades feature a Matt Flaxpod powder coat finish complementing other colour finishes on the buildings. The balustrade posts are top-fixed onto the masonry structure of the decks.
Having used Provista solutions in previous projects, and finding both their knowledge and support at a high level and range of solutions very diverse, the architects specified Provista’s ‘Tudor’ framed aluminium solution to provide a stylish balustrade to the first, second and third levels of the development. In keeping with the design of the building, the solution also features a ‘Retro’ rectangular handrail profile.
Provista Framed Aluminium solutions are very adaptable to different building types, looking great on modern or classical structures and, in this case, have provided a practical, low maintenance and attractive solution that complements the design and look of the apartments.
Designer, Greg Walton, advises “I think the overall look is great and the balustrades are a big part of that."
Duncan Commercial Construction are undertaking the project build and worked closely with the Provista team during the balustrade installation. Director, Scott Duncan, concludes “the dealings with Tracy Guthrie and the site team was very good, easy to communicate with and willing to assist with the methodology of our programme.”
Provista Balustrade Systems solutions are compliant with all NZ regulations and suited to A, B, E and C3 residential and commercial applications.
