Palliside Weatherboards: A Lightweight, Cost Effective Solution for Kamo Call Centre

Sunshine Homes in Kamo was given the job of constructing this 18 x 4m made-for-purpose building. Factory-built and then transported to site meant using materials that were lightweight, cost effective and fast to install, while having a low-impact on the environment was another key consideration for product choice.

Using a combination of Palliside Weatherboards on the exterior and a range of lightweight materials inside helped in meeting the weight requirements. Palliside's interlocking design and double profile also provided the additional advantage of being fast to apply – with standard nails only, no pre-drilling required. Low-maintenance and fully recyclable, Palliside doesn't need painting – a periodic wash-down with water and a brush is all that's required to keep it looking good.

Inside, the walls of the centre are lined with Nova Hush Wall Panels and the ceilings with Nova Hush Ceiling tiles. Nova Hush are specifically designed for their acoustic properties.

Capable of housing up to 16 staff members at any given time, ensuring the comfort of staff was important, and a series of Mammoth insulation products have been used to create the thermal properties suitable for such a building. R2.2 rigid wall and underfloor insulation along with R2.9 polyester ceiling blankets were also used, achieving the desired results.

Palliside, Nova and Mammoth products are made in New Zealand. Nova and Mammoth products are made from recycled plastic bottles.
