Track My Tree Initiative a First for the Veneer Industry

In what is a New Zealand first, and possibly a world-first, Prime Panels is leading the way in sustainable timber sourcing by introducing a new Track my Tree feature for its NZ Native Veneer species.

With a clear and documented chain of custody from the forest or farm to the factory floor at Prime Panels, Track my Tree provides absolute confidence in the legal and geographical provenance of all native timbers used by Prime Veneer.

When an NZ Native timber veneer panel ordered through Prime Panels is supplied, the Track my Tree code is printed on the invoice. It also appears as a printed code on the side of the veneer panel when it leaves the Prime Panels manufacturing site in Auckland.

By entering the code into the Track my Tree database on the Natural Veneer section of the Prime Panels website, the result will display:

  • The location of the tree (or trees) on Google Earth that the veneer was cut from
  • A downloadable MPI permit that shows the native veneer was sustainably sourced.
  • The tree source for the veneer i.e. windblown or accessway

Even without a veneer code, the search function allows site visitors to use the browse function on Track my Tree to view all New Zealand native trees that are in the custody of Prime Panels — the search can be filtered by species type but will not display the tracking code.
