ThermalCrete is a lightweight, crack-resistant panel used as a substrate for exterior plaster cladding on a 20mm or 45mm cavity, providing a fully insulated, drained, weather-resistant barrier for residential and commercial construction.
Thermalcrete is made up of three layers. The outside panels are 4.5mm thick Calcium Silicate Board, while the core is 41mm thick aerated concrete with 3-5mm EPS beads. During the manufacturing process, the sheets are bonded together (not laminated), making them energy-efficient and giving them an excellent thermal rating.
Fire Rating
ThermalCrete meets the requirements and relevant section of the NZ Building Code including C3 – Spread of Fire. It has a fire resistance of 4hrs at 60mm.
Strength
The outer calcium silicate boards are made of cement and lime and have a strength rating of 14 Mpa. The core consists of 41mm thick cement with 3-5mm diameter eps beads. The overall rating of the panel is 5Mpa. ThermalCrete holds a CodeMark Certificate and complies with B1 Structure and B2 Durability of the NZ Building Code.
The interlocking tongue and groove system on the panels provides extra security and stability.
Water-Resistance
ThermalCrete is a tough, durable and water resistant substrate. With water absorption of only 3.2%, ThermalCrete meets the NZ Building Code for Section E2 – External Moisture.
TIP: ThermalCrete in combination with Masons Crack Resistant Flexible Plaster FLX, is the most trusted combination to weatherproof frames with a plaster cladding system.
Quick Installation and Comprehensive Flashing System
"The tongue and groove system provided a more rigid, straighter system and was stable on the wall. It was also very easy to cut and install due to the absence of steel rods, and provided better insulation than any other products I've used," says Chris Barnett from Barnett Construction Ltd, Nelson who used ThermalCrete on his own house. ThermalCrete's comprehensive flashing system is compliant to E2/VM1 Weathertight Testing.
