This newly built Canterbury home recently had the honour of being the first New Zealand home awarded a 10-star Homestar rating. Designed by architect Bob Burnett, the construction of the two storey home had to factor in Homestar rating prerequisites for energy use, waste disposal, ventilation, health and occupant comfort, along with the client's requirements.
The clients approached HomePlus Christchurch to supply the Infinity frameless glass balustrade after admiring the balustrade installed on another local home. They particularly liked the sleek and linear look of the cantilevered Infinity balustrade and the modern frameless glass finish.
Infinity frameless glass balustrade uses proprietary clamps to fix the 12mm or 15mm toughened glass panels, which are then hidden behind the matching balustrade covers. Discrete support brackets are fitted to the adjoining glass panels and finished in a matching powder coat colour to blend into the overall look. Face fixing the balustrade means the view from inside the balcony is completely uninterrupted, with all fixtures sitting below the deck level.
Finished in a satin black powder coating to complement the black cladding, the balustrade fits into the overall finished look of the home perfectly. HomePlus Christchurch was proud to not only supply the balustrade featured, but also wardrobe doors and wardrobe organisers in this award-winning home. The house also featured in a recent Trends magazine.
*Please Note: this installation took place before NZS4223.3.2016 came into effect. An interlinking handrail or self-supporting laminated glass would now be required.
