Juken New Zealand (JNL) Quarter Sawn Clears (QSC) are cut from pruned saw logs that are precision sawn, kiln-dried, graded and machined to exact tolerances. The result is a dimensionally stable, clear, straight (vertical) grain wood product, free of defects and with high visual and aesthetic appeal.
The relationship between JNL and Vic Jacobsen from Renall Doors spans 25 years, and started with sharing drying technology in JNL's early days. Over time, Renall Doors started purchasing QSC from JNL to produce their custom-built, solid timber doors and European styled windows that are manufactured to stand the test of time
Vic’s new company, Jacobson Joinery Services Ltd stepped up the relationship three years ago, buying large quantities of quarter-sawn clears from JNL.
"Put simply, I believe there is not another company in New Zealand making the same product. Furthermore, I’d be so bold to say there certainly isn’t a company that makes such an outstanding job for this type of product as Juken do," explains Vic.
Renall Doors has always been at the cornerstone of their business since 1975, making natural timber doors in several timber species. Vic and his team also started producing UK style open out European timber windows with the inception of a new German CNC machine and software.
"The QSC has exceptional thermal properties and can house up to 34mm thick triple glazing, with 24mm double glazing as standard. Ultimately this type of joinery will be the new normal in New Zealand," explains Vic.
JNL Quartersawn Clears are commonly used for internal top-end residential or commercial applications where a highly visible, blemish-free, clean-lined modern look is required, such as cabinetry, furniture and solid doors.
JNL’s Quarter Sawn Clears are harvested from 100% renewable forestry, responsibly grown and manufactured in the Wairarapa.
