GreenStuf is dedicated to reducing the construction sector's environmental impact, given that buildings are responsible for around 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This commitment aligns with New Zealand's ambitions for net-zero carbon emissions, with GreenStuf's sustainability policies aimed at driving significant change.
Over the past decade, GreenStuf has developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy. This strategy encompasses climate action, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, good health and well-being, and decent work and economic growth, guiding the company's environmental and social initiatives.
GreenStuf translates its sustainable vision into action in various ways. The company ensures that its products contain at least 50% recycled PET and recycles all manufacturing waste into production. It rigorously vets raw materials for environmental safety to protect indoor air quality, adhering to strict volatile organic compound (VOC) limits.
A pivotal aspect of GreenStuf's commitment to sustainability is its Takeback Programme, designed to prevent products from ending up in landfills. This initiative, which started with a successful pilot in 2021 alongside Naylor Love, allows product offcuts and trimmings to be collected and reused. Currently operational in Auckland, there are plans for expanding it nationwide.
Through initiatives like the Takeback Programme, GreenStuf advocates for sustainable practices and leads by example in pursuing a greener future for the construction sector.
