Breaking Down Intertenancy Barriers with GIB Barrierline

With a wealth of construction industry experience across both Asia and Aotearoa, Victor is passionate about delivering affordable quality housing using high performance materials. In the five years he has been in New Zealand, GIB Barrierline has become a trusted ally.

“We use GIB Barrierline for most of our projects — it’s our go-to system for intertenancy walls,” says the Anson Building NZ General Manager. A subsidiary of the highly regarded Anson Group, Anson Building NZ is a member of the New Zealand Master Builders Association and the NZ Chinese Building Industry Association (NZCBIA). Since launching the business in 2018, Victor and his team have been the driving force behind multiple high-end residential and commercial developments across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. This year has been particularly busy, with the company opening two multi-unit terraced housing developments, The Elms and EdgeWest, and a third — Normandy Parklands — currently under construction in Henderson.

“Normandy Parklands is a family-friendly development with a strong sense of community. it features 23 units in total, 14 two-storey two-bedroom homes and nine three-storey four-bedroom homes, making it an appealing option for both first home buyers and larger families looking to move up the property ladder.”

Quality and innovation have been pivotal to the project’s success. Although the team has used GIB Barrierline extensively in the past with timber framing, this is the first time they’ve used it with steel framing, and it is proving to be a winner.

“Traditionally GIB Barrierline is used in timber stud applications but it can also be used for steel stud applications,” explains Victor. “This has been great for us because when the lead-in time for timber framing got so long last year, we changed to steel framing, yet we were still able to use the GIB Barrierline system we were so familiar with.”

Ease of installation is a big drawcard for Victor (“It’s so quick and easy for our builders to install!”), and there’s also peace of mind knowing that expert tech support is on hand should it ever be needed.

But that’s just one of many reasons GIB Barrierline is Anson Building’s intertenancy barrier system of choice.

“From a cost perspective it is very economical, and the supply chain and lead-in times are good. We never have to wait too long.”

Better still, thanks to Winstone Wallboards’ DTS (Direct to Site) service, GIB Barrierline can be delivered straight to the front door, saving precious time and hassle. This, teamed with the system’s high performance in Noise and Fire Control (FRR) make for a winning combination not only for Anson Building NZ, but also for the Kiwis who live in their homes.

“GIB Barrierline is a reliable high-quality system that gives peace of mind both to us as a building company and also to our customers.”
