Assa Abloy Door Hardware Solutions for 'The Cloud'

This multi purpose event venue located on Queens Wharf showcased New Zealand’s innovation and creativity, displaying and promoting some of the best creations in New Zealand's commercial and agricultural industries.

The Cloud is a tensioned membrane structure built using a combination of PVC, steel and glass. At 175m in length, it was built to accommodate up to 5,000 people, with an additional 500 people on the mezzanine floor.

Its unique format allows the building to be divided into four sections accommodating a variety of events simultaneously.

Fletcher Construction established specific requirements for the products needed for the construction of The Cloud. In a New Zealand first, Assa Abloy supplied Lockwood 9000 Series panic break-out bars, featuring new advanced technology. By incorporating a unique dogging function, it allowed the doors to be left open. In addition The Cloud also features Lockwood 7726 Door Closers, with delayed action, adjustable backcheck, speed controls and overload protection.
