ASSA ABLOY New Zealand have been a part of this cornerstone project which has rejuvenated a stadium with 100 years of history behind it. The redevelopment has seen the introduction of the new three-tier South Stand, a two-tier East Stand with acoustic barrier for noise control, a 2000 seat extension to the ASB stand and a modern public concourse connecting all stands to the now internalised transportation hub.
A full door hardware schedule for the project was provided by ASSA ABLOY’s specification team to architects, Populous. This schedule took into consideration the stadium’s multi-faceted security needs; including perimeter security, crowd control and safety egress.
Lockwood 9000 Series Panic Exit devices are fitted throughout the stadium. These provide a safe and effective means of escape with the single action of pushing a horizontal bar fitted across the door.
Security and crowd control is achieved using a variety of Lockwood electromechanical locks. An ideal solution for large buildings with high volume foot traffic, these locks can be operated by push buttons, intercom systems or proximity card readers.
The stadium’s internal doors are fitted with the versatile Lockwood 1800 Series Plate Furniture, suitable for high use public areas. Lockwood 214/215 Series Push and Pull Handles were also utilised, providing durability with style.
ASSA ABLOY’s flexibility and on-site availability proved invaluable to all parties throughout the Eden Park project, as several necessary adjustments to the schedule and specifications were required. ASSA ABLOY committed to stock for the complete project, which meant ensuring adequate product availability to cater for nearly 1,000 doors.
All products installed are backed by the quality assurance synonymous with the Lockwood name.
