On Myths Around Leaky Homes

More and more architects are now designing buildings using Masons Plastabrick's newest product Enviro AAC Panel and the Plastabrick System, both have a 20-45mm cavity which complies with the building practices outlined by the Department of Building and Housing.

Two factors in leaky buildings were:

  • 'Mediterranean' Style buildings using Monolithic cladding systems were outside the product specifications
  • Inadequate construction that did not allow for deflection, drying and drainage of water or moisture.

Cavity systems are now recommended as they allow space for any moisture to evaporate and not sit on the framing. To help combat moisture Masons also supply a barricade window tape which is installed with all window and door openings.
