The owners of this 1980’s home wanted to renovate the bathroom and install an additional toilet. The original bathroom was small and badly in need of an upgrade. The challenge of fitting everything within the confined space was solved by replacing the hinged door with a cavity slider.
Because the house was built using 70mm framing, a CS SlimSlider cavity slider was required. Due to size constraints, the standard timber split jambs on this product are replaced with slimmer pre-primed aluminium jambs for strength and rigidity. Using a cavity slider freed up the swing space required by a hinged door, creating enough extra room to install a larger shower, make the towel rail easily accessible and fit the new toilet.
The cavity slider was supplied with flat jambs for architraves to match the style of the home and fitted with a standard 1980 x 710mm door leaf. The matt black CaviLock CL200 privacy handle gives a nice contrast to the predominantly white bathroom.
The floor mounted vanity and mirrored cupboards were secured to the cavity slider by ordering additional nogs on one side of the pocket for fixing. Consideration was also put into the location of the toilet which is placed just behind the rear of the cavity pocket to enable room for plumbing.
The owners are delighted with the final result; the layout works well and they didn’t have to compromise on the number of fittings they wanted in the bathroom.
