Maximise Minimal Space with a Cavity Slider

CS FOR DOORS recently worked with a client who liked the idea of a cavity slider into their butler’s pantry, but was concerned that the location near to the cooker and a set of display shelving meant they would need to make compromises in their design to make it happen.

CS recommended a SofStop cavity slider for a smooth, soft closing action, in line with the rest of the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen. The nogs on the side of the pocket adjacent to the cooker were replaced with a sheet of ply to provide fixing for the display shelving.

A CS NewYorker door was specified with 6.38mm opal laminate glass. The natural anodised aluminium frame toned in well with the appliances and ensured the door wouldn’t bow under temperature differentials.

Lintels over the full trim size (opening and pocket) should be sized to ensure that no load is applied to the door assembly
Lintels to NZS3604 are acceptable for door weights up to 75kg per metre width of door. Specific design required when the door weight exceeds 75kg per metre

Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. CS Cavity Sliders meet the requirements for loads arising from self-weight, earthquake, wind and impact [i.e. B1.3.3 [a], [f], [h] and [j]]
Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 [a], not less than 50 years, [b], 15 years and [c], 5 years. CS Cavity Sliders meet these requirements
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. CS Cavity Sliders meet this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people
