Asona Pool Panels Installed for Franklin Pool Refurbishment

Indoor Pool environments are a challenge for building designers, manufacturers and contractors, with high humidity, condensation and corrosion issues a constant threat to building elements.

In 2007 Asona launched its Triton Pool Panel System as a lightweight, high sound absorbing ceiling finish for swimming pool environments. First installed in Diocesan School for Girls ‘Aquatic Centre’, the Triton Pool Panels have stood the test of time and look as good as the day they were installed in 2008. Triton Pool Panels have subsequently been installed throughout the country to great success.

Asona has recently completed the Franklin Pool refurbishment where the original concealed edge acoustic ceiling was stained and falling away and needed to be removed for health and safety reasons.

To overcome the moisture build-up from the concealed plenum, the design team specified locally made Triton Pool Panels. The panels were spaced apart and suspended on powder-coated aluminium fixing brackets. This opened the plenum to allow air to move freely and reduce the risk of condensation.

Another significant selection criteria was the ability to meet very tight manufacture and install timelines with demolition and construction happening over the Christmas holiday period. Asona’s local manufacturing plant rose to the challenge, supplying product daily to meet the late January 2018 opening.

“Asona did an awesome job given the short program and time of year," says Regan Wright, Director of Pulse Interiors. "Their close partnership with the construction team allowed us to complete on time and to budget — a job well done."
