Asona and Revolution Fibres Ltd Collaborate to Make Nanofibre Filters for PPE

“When I got the call from Iain Hosie, Technical Director and Founder of Revolution Fibres, I knew we had to help,” says Neil Ridgway, owner of Asona. “On a normal day, we are making laminated acoustic ceiling and wall panels but these days are not normal times and I knew our world-class lamination gear could do the job,” he says.

Revolution Fibres is based in Henderson, Auckland and manufactures a range of nanofibres for the specialist and consumer market. Nanofibres are unique in their fine structure, large surface area and ability to filter our very small particles, pollutants, bacteria and even some viruses. “Filtration at 0.3 micron is 95% efficient," says Iain, "and the ‘easy breathe’ characteristics of the Asona laminated material is very good.”

Revolution Fibres is carrying out further testing and development and will continue their collaboration with Asona during the lockdown to get high-performance filter product into the market to meet the urgent need.
