Irritated by the ongoing supply chain risks associated with imported perforated plasterboard and fuelled by the desire for greater local content, Asona’s business owner and Managing Director, Neil Ridgway, made the decision to invest in a new perforated plasterboard production line at its Auckland manufacturing plant. Now commissioned, the new line manufactures Asona’s Ultratone perforated plasterboard panels from GIB plasterboard feed stock.
“The whole team is very excited,” says Neil. “We can now manufacture and deliver to our customers a quality, NZ made, high performance perforated plasterboard acoustic panel that is lower cost and available in shorter lead times compared to imported product.”
With a good selection of die tooling on hand, Asona Ultratone is available in 26 standard patterns including round, random and square perforations and can be customised to special order to meet individual project requirements. Acoustic performance has been verified through extensive testing at the Auckland Acoustics Laboratories and achieves a fire Group 1-S rating, as tested by BRANZ, without the need for expensive intumescent paint or fire retardants common with perforated wood panels.
Asona Ultratone perforated GIB plasterboard panels are the ideal acoustic treatment for plasterboard ceilings and high level wall applications in offices, hotels, schools, shopping centres and open plan living spaces — anywhere you need to control unwanted noise reverberation for quiet comfort.
Ultratone™ panels are manufactured in NZ by Asona Limited from GIB® plasterboard (a registered trademark of Winstone Wallboards)
