Constructed with the aid of a $50 million donation from philanthropist Mark Dunajtschik, the new Wellington Children’s Hospital is a landmark project for the region.
The three-storey building of nearly 8,000 sqm will cater to approximately 30,000 children and their whanau passing through its doors each year. Those entranceways are protected by EverTread Entrance Matting from Advance Flooring.
A collaboration between Studio Design + Architecture, design and build company McKee Fehl, and engineers Aurecon, the new hospital provides 50 beds over two floors, one for medical and one for surgical patients. The ground floor houses day patients and other paediatric services, and incorporates a café a large outdoor patients’ garden and play area.
The building is connected to the main regional hospital by a skyway, along with its own ground floor entrances. To protect the hospital’s interior and its patients, staff and visitors, EverTread entrance matting is installed at each of these entranceways, internal and external.
EverTread is an attractive heavy-duty entrance matting system designed for long-lasting performance. With moisture absorbing polyamide inserts set in a stylish low-profile aluminium frame, EverTread is designed to efficiently trap dirt and moisture, keeping interiors cleaner and safer. This helps keep the hospital interiors safer and cleaner for its patients. EverTread is also cleverly engineered to roll up for ease of cleaning.
This makes EverTread an ideal solution for healthcare environments with hard flooring surfaces, helping to prevent slip and fall injuries, and minimising the ingress of dirt that can both carry contaminants and increase wear on floors. EverTread also stands up against the constant rolling loads of wheelchairs, beds and equipment.
Just like the wonderful staff at Wellington Children's Hospital, EverTread shows up for the kids every single day.
EverTread entrance matting is made in New Zealand from local and imported materials, which means it can be manufactured to order within tight time constraints. The aluminium frame is designed to roll up for easy cleaning, and also makes it simple to install, saving on installation costs. Combining safety, style and performance, EverTread helps Wellington Children’s Hospital provide the best possible care for children and young people.
