Operating in 20 countries, OneSchool Global provides an innovative approach to learning, delivered in cutting-edge, technology-empowered physical and digital environments. Replacing their existing Invercargill facility, OneSchool Global’s new purpose-built campus in Gore was provided with a complete flooring solution from Advance Flooring.

The school is comprised of a Learning Centre with open plan classrooms, admin and breakout rooms, and a Gym, which also houses the canteen, along with more teaching and workshop spaces. The interiors were designed and specified by Arcon Design, who chose all of the flooring from the Advance range of products.

"It was our first complete school fitout," says Arcon’s Matthew Hart, "from entry tiles flowing through to carpet tiles, all the vinyl for the bathrooms, and then a multipurpose gym fitted with Taraflex."

"We didn’t look elsewhere, as Advance have a floor for each purpose," Hart continues. "We know their products, and so we didn’t have to pick from several different suppliers for one project."

For the entryways, Arcon specified Gecko Entry Tiles with ComfortBack backing, an extra heavy-duty carpet tile that traps dirt and moisture from footwear approaching from all directions. These created a seamless transition into the Kingston Carpet Tiles, also with ComfortBack.

"The acoustic, cushion-backed carpet tile was used throughout the learning spaces," says Hart. "Kingston is ideal for education environments, and it delivered what we were looking at in terms of colourways, from which the school’s trustees chose shades of grey with contrasting blue and yellow highlights."

Flooring for kitchens, bathrooms, art and lab spaces was Tarasafe Ultra, a slip-resistant vinyl that is safe, durable and easy to maintain. "I have worked with Tarasafe a lot in the past," say Hart. "It’s a great product that is very good to lay."

The final element of Arcon’s complete flooring solution was the specialised Taraflex sports floor. Says Hart, "Taraflex is a roll-out product that you can lay over concrete, so we didn’t need to put in a sprung floor." Taraflex sports floors provide comfort, safety, protection and a high-quality playing surface, and help reduce injuries from impacts and abrasions.
