FireZone Vanguard Fire Treatment for Natural Timber Finish
Description

New Zealand’s only locally processed, natural fire retardant system suitable for internal and external use, with the largest number of compliant timber species.

The versatility of this offsite treatment system allows for a natural timber finish, stained or clear coat finish to be achieved on either internal or external timber substrates.

Achieving a Type A and Group 1-S fire rating for internal and external timber substrates.

For external or high moisture internal environments, specify when a natural, stained timber finish is desired.

Limitations on Use
  • FireZone Vanguard FP compatible clear coat available through Zone
  • Can accept limited stains and oils
  • Check technical data sheets for compliant timber substrates
  • Off-site production only
  • FireZone Vanguard SP is appropriate for internal or semi-external use
  • For full external exposure, FireZone Vanguard FP is appropriate
  • Stainless fixings are required
Statement of Building Code Compliance

Tested in accordance with C/AS2 to achieve a Group 1-S on a varierty of timber substrates. Testing includes BRANZ certification as well as testing to EN13501-1:2018. 

Classified in accordance with C/AS1 and C/AS2 for Type A or Type B external cladding classification — on Western Red Cedar and TMT Taiga.

  • The fire treatment penetrates the cells of the timber substrate, providing moisture resistant fire performance 
  • Unlike traditional intumescent coatings, FireZone Vanguard performs in areas with high humidity and moisture
  • The compatible clear coat system is highly durable, chemical and moisture resistant 
  • FireZone Vanguard FP has been classified in accordance with EN16755:2017 as lasting for the life of the timber substrate in full external applications
