Description

FireZone 92 is a clear water-based intumescent coating used to prevent the spread of flame on timber internal surface finishes such as walls and ceilings.

Independently tested for compliance to the NZBC C/AS2, table 4.3, achieving a Group 1S, the highest performance.

ZONE has a history of successful, architecturally stunning projects both nationally and internationally using clear intumescent coatings. Now suitable for use on 9mm plywood and timber with a density of 338kg/m³.

Key Features
  • Produces a finish with minimal changes to the natural timber substrate; no 'milkiness'
  • Both base and top coats are water-borne and environmentally friendly, with low VOCs
  • The FireZone™ top coat is manufactured locally
  • Can be applied over stained or varnished substrates using FZ Adhesion Primer (Site specific sample is recommended for Architects approval)
  • Tested on structural CLT and thermally modified timbers
  • Sprayed on-site or off-site, no special heating equipment required; able to be brushed or rolled
  • Easy to specify using Masterspec work section 6743ZF
Scope of Use
  • FireZone 92 has been designed for internal use on timber substrates
  • Ensure that the substrate intended to be used is applicable for use with FireZone 92, for thickness, density and type. Consult the timber manufacturer for species details

Versatile specification options include:

  • New timber (Spec code FZ-92)
  • Stained timber (Spec code FZ-92 PS) Water based interior stains OK (other stains will require an adhesion test, exterior stains not suitable)
  • Previously varnished timber (Spec Code FZ-92PV)
  • Double topcoat specification (Spec code FZ92 XX 2TC) for enhanced durability and or moisture resistance
Limitations on Use
  • Interior surfaces only. Not for external use
  • Three coat system at 83μm per coat. For a more durable system, specify a double top coat. Refer to ZONE for further recommendations
  • Avoid wet areas. (Use FZ B&B if the environment is moisture laden)
  • Timber substrate minimum thickness is 9mm and 450kg/m3 density. Not suitable for cedar
  • The product must be applied strictly in accordance with the application instructions and wet film thickness requirements. The use of ZONE’s preferred applicator network will smooth the installation process and provide relevant QA and compliance documentation
