Halley-P NO FLAME
Description

Viking Halley-P NO FLAME is a self-adhered two-layer membrane system — the newest member to Viking Roofspec's bituminous membrane category.

Manufactured by General Membrane sPA who produce Viking's torch-on membranes, the Halley-P NO FLAME employs a special bitumen and adhesive resin mixture that allows the membrane layers to be installed without the use of a propane gas torch. Halley-P NO FLAME is a hybrid of two compounds: a plasticised APP bitumen mixed with a rubberised SBS one. The 'NO FLAME' aspect comes from the lower surface and the selvedge edges consisting of an elastomeric pressure-sensitive adhesive.

This membrane system's quality is highlighted by two indicators: its low temperature flexibility (-25°C) and the adhesive’s compatibility to a wide range of substrates. The adhesive’s properties facilitate installation in a wide range of climatic conditions.

Key Features
  • Two layers of self-adhered bitumen membrane
  • No flame required
  • Fast installation (release paper)
  • Bond strength increases after installation
  • Cold flexibility (-25°c)
  • Hybrid APP/SBS — installed in all parts of NZ / Pacific Islands
  • Can be used for warm roofs
  • Can be used with ILD
  • Black and grey cap sheets
Scope of Use

Viking Halley-P NO FLAME membrane is suitable for low-slope roofs (flat or curved), gutters and parapets, waterproofing beneath a floating deck, inland and coastal conditions, commercial and residential buildings.

This system has been assessed as a roof waterproofing membrane on buildings within the following scope:

  • The scope limitations of NZS 3604:2011 and NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; or,
  • The scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with regards to building height and floor plan area when subject to specific structural design; and,
  • Situated in NZS 3604:2011 Wind Zones, up to and including Extra High; and,
  • With substrates of plywood or suspended concrete slab; and,
  • With a minimum fall for roofs of 1:30 (2 degrees)

Viking Halley-P has also been assessed for use as a roof waterproofing membrane on buildings within the following scope:

  • Subject to specific structural and weathertightness design situated in wind pressures up to a maximum design differential ultimate limit state (ULS) of 6 kPa: and,
  • With substrates of plywood or suspended concrete slab
Limitations on Use

Viking Halley-P NO FLAME has been designed to be installed in any climate zone due to its hybrid blend of APP and SBS modified bitumen compounds.

The system must be installed by a Viking Roofspec Trained and Approved Installer.
