Piano Acoustic Isolation Resilient Profiles
Description

The Rothoblaas Piano soundproofing profile range is designed to reduce vibrations and enhance acoustic comfort in both lightweight floors and high-load buildings. These profiles are designed to prevent undue noise transmission between occupancies or common spaces in household units.

Available in five versions, it uses an expanded and extruded EPDM compound to provide acoustic improvement values of more than 4 dB. The profiles are certified according to European standards, and are suitable for various applications, including timber frame and massive structures.

Key Features
  • Acoustic Performance: Provides an acoustic improvement of more than 4 dB, effectively reducing vibrations and enhancing soundproofing.
  • Versatility: Available in five versions, each designed for different load requirements, from lightweight floors to high-load, multi-storey constructions.
  • Material Composition: Made from expanded and extruded EPDM compound, ensuring durability and stability.
  • Anti-Vibration: Dampens vibrations in both static and dynamic conditions, absorbing and dissipating energy.
  • Durability: High long-term durability with chemical and UV stability, ensuring consistent performance over time.
  • Certification: Certified according to ETA (European Technical Assessment) standards, guaranteeing quality and reliability.
  • Ease of Application: Can be applied with primer spray or double band, even on battens.
  • Environmental Safety: Does not contain VOCs.
Scope of Use
  • The Rothoblaas Piano profiles provide effective soundproofing by dampening vibrations and improving acoustic performance, and is designed to enhance acoustic comfort in various construction applications.
  • These profiles are designed to prevent undue noise transmission between occupancies or common spaces in household units.
  • Scope of use includes lightweight slabs, timber frame structures, and massive structures such as CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) or LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber).
  • The profiles are suitable for both static and dynamic conditions, making them ideal for floating floors, multi-storey buildings, and other high-load constructions.
  • The profiles can be applied with primer spray or double band, even on battens.
Limitations on Use

The Rothoblaas Piano soundproofing profiles have some limitations and specific conditions where they should not be used:

  • Load Limits: Each version of the profile is designed for specific load ranges. Using a profile outside its designated load range can result in inadequate performance or failure 1 .
  • Temperature Sensitivity: The profiles are made from EPDM, which has a working temperature range of -35°C to +70°C. They should not be used in environments where temperatures exceed this range.
  • Chemical Exposure: While the profiles are resistant to many chemicals, prolonged exposure to aggressive chemicals or solvents can degrade the material.
  • Incorrect Installation: Improper installation, such as not using the recommended primer spray or double band, can compromise the soundproofing effectiveness. It’s important to follow the technical manual to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The Rothoblaas Piano soundproofing profiles comply with the relevant performance requirements of the New Zealand Building Code, specifically Clause G6 — Airborne and Impact Sound. These profiles are designed to prevent undue noise transmission between occupancies or common spaces in household units.

Relevant NZ Building Code Performance Clauses and Sub-Clauses:

  • Clause G6.2: Building elements that are common between occupancies must be constructed to prevent undue noise transmission from other occupancies or common spaces.
  • Clause G6.3.1: Walls, floors, and ceilings must achieve a Sound Transmission Class (STC) of no less than 55.
  • Clause G6.3.2: Floors must achieve an Impact Insulation Class (IIC) of no less than 55. The Rothoblaas Piano profiles meet these requirements by providing an acoustic improvement of more than 4 dB, ensuring effective soundproofing and vibration reduction in various construction applications.

Other Performance Attributes
  • Elasticity: The EPDM mixture used in the profiles can compensate for timber and structure expansion, maintaining performance even with structural movements.
  • Chemical and UV Stability: The profiles exhibit high resistance to chemical exposure and UV radiation, ensuring long-term durability.
  • Compact Cross-Section: The compact design of the profiles enhances stability when subjected to compression.
  • Environmental Safety: The profiles do not contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making them environmentally friendly and safe for indoor use.
  • Certified according to ETA (European Technical Assessment) standards, guaranteeing quality and reliability

Warranty & Maintenance

The Rothoblaas Piano soundproofing profiles come with a warranty that ensures their performance and durability. The specific terms and duration of the warranty can vary, so it’s recommended to consult the product documentation or contact Rothoblaas directly for detailed warranty information.

Maintenance Required:

  • Regular Inspections: Periodically check the profiles for any signs of wear or damage, especially in high-load applications.
  • Cleaning: Keep the profiles clean from dust and debris to maintain their effectiveness.
  • Avoid Chemical Exposure: Ensure the profiles are not exposed to aggressive chemicals or solvents that could degrade the material
