Resene AquaShield

Description

Resene AquaShield is a high mineral content, super-hydrophobic water repellent coating for application on most porous building materials to impart watershedding properties. It combines the water repellent properties of silicones with a special surface microstructure considerably reducing the contact area for water and dirt.

The result: dirt particles adhere loosely and are more easily carried away by raindrops, leaving a dry and attractive facade. Ideal for highly stressed weather-exposed facades. Made to the original Deutsches Patentschrift 1284007.

Resene decorative coatings are tinted using unique Resene non-VOC tinters to achieve the desired colour without added VOCs. Engineered Systems Coatings products are tinted using special Resene industrial tinters.

Limitations on Use

Drying is slowed by low temperatures and high humidity.
Product properties are affected by high levels of tinter, therefore only a limited range of colours are offered.
Hydrophobicity, especially of tinted product, increases with time. Requires one month of direct weathering to achieve full hydrophobicity.
Colours will lighten with exposure. Care must be taken when touching up.
Avoid excessive film builds as it changes the surface microstructure and water repellency.
