Red Stag CLT Beams
Description

Lightweight, strong, and sustainable; Red Stag bespoke Cross Laminated timber (CLT) beams are a low-carbon, cost-effective alternative to steel for structural solutions. Perfect for projects with high sustainability standards such as The Living Building Challenge.

Red Stag CLT can be treated to H1.2 for interior use, such as where visual grade CLT is exposed indoors; and H3.2 for use where there is moderate risk of moisture and UV.

  • Fire resistance level (FRL) met, tested in accordance with AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 4072.1:2005
  • Tested to FRR 60/60/60 unencapsulated — higher ratings can be achieved with specific design
  • Available in standard, standard plus, or visual grades.
  • Very High Strength-to-Weight ratio.
  • Red Stag CLT components are 3D modelled and manufactured to millimetre accuracy and delivered to site as a kit set; minimising mistakes, and increasing ease of installation on site.
  • Red Stag CLT components are New Zealand’s lowest carbon, primary structural construction material, manufactured from sustainably managed raw materials.
  • Reduced risk of splitting at supports, penetrations, & connections.

Limitations on Use
  • Design and installation must be done in accordance with the latest Red Stag Design Guide.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

Although there are currently no specific NZ standards for the production and utilisation of CLT, the product shares many similarities with Glulam as it is created from dried timber that is finger-jointed and laminated together using pressure and adhesive.

The design of the timber shall be in accordance with the regulations as advised by the consultants and the following New Zealand Standards:

  • NZS 3603 — Timber Structures Code
  • AS 5068 — Finger Jointed Timber Code
  • NZS 3631 — New Zealand National Timber Grading Code
  • ASNZS 1328.1 — The Manufacture of Glue Laminated Timber
  • AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 4072.1:2005 — Fire Resistance
In-Service History

Red Stag TimberLab has the largest CLT manufacturing plant in the southern hemisphere.
