Wall Underlay (SOLITEX EXTASANA)
Description

SOLITEX EXTASANA is a synthetic flexible wall underlay designed for New Zealand conditions, produced in Germany, and exceeds all of the testing standards of E2/AS1 Table 23. The product consists of a non-porous water resistant film laminated between two layers of spun-bonded polypropylene and is coloured blue on the top surface and grey on the bottom surface.

Complementary Components:

  • TESCON EXTORA is used to seal the overlaps
  • TESCON EXTOSEAL Sill Tape — one piece flexible Sill Tape for window and door openings
  • KAFLEX / ROFLEX Weathertight sealing grommets for cables and pipes that penetrate the membrane
  • ORCON Multi-purpose liquid adhesive for connections to rough and / or porous surfaces

SOLITEX EXTASANA roll sizes 1.50m (54.75sqm) and 2.74m (100sqm) wide and 36.5m long

  • High water resistance — water column more than 10,000 mm 
  • Low vapour resistance — MVTR lower than 0.75 MNs/g with active humidity transport
  • High durability under all conditions — unaffected by wood preservatives
  • Thermostable — above 100°C
  • UV stabilised — can be exposed to the New Zealand elements for 90 days
  • Air Barrier — can be used as an Air Barrier as per NZS2295:2006 and NZBC E2/AS1 Table 23
  • Surface weight 140 g/m²
Scope of Use

Has been assessed for use as a flexible wall underlay on timber framed buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; and,
  • with absorbent wall claddings directly fixed to framing; and,
  • with non-metallic, non-absorbent wall claddings directly fixed to frame; and,
  • with absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings installed over an 18 mm minimum drained cavity; and,
  • with masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604:2011 Wind Zones up to, and including ‘Very High’.

Has been assessed for use as a flexible wall underlay on steel framed buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with regards to building height and floor plan area; and,
  • with absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings installed over an 18 mm minimum drained cavity; and,
  • with masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604:2011 Wind Zones up to, and including ‘Very High’.

Has been assessed for use as a flexible wall underlay over rigid wall underlays on timber and steel framed buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 (August 2011), Paragraph 1.1 with regards to building height and floor plan area; and,
  • with absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings installed over an 18 mm minimum drained cavity; and,
  • with masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604:2011 Wind Zones up to and including ‘Extra High’
Limitations on Use

Product specification and incorporation of the SOLITEX EXTASANA Wall Underlay into the building design shall be carried out by a designer / architect / engineer or a building professional who:

  • Is qualified to design the buildings covered under the 'Scope' of use of this product.
  • Has ready access to the relevant technical specifications, NZBC, Standards, details and other information related to the installation method, including the current version of the Pro Clima NZ Limited Installation Guide for SOLITEX EXTASANA as noted within this Certificate.
Statement of Building Code Compliance

If used, designed, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of the Installation Guide and the Codemark Certificate, will meet, or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1(a), not less than 50 years, B2.3.1(b), 15 years and B2.3.2. meets these requirements.
  • Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2. When used as part of the cladding system, will contribute to meeting this requirement.
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. Meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
