Description

The Pro Joist Saddle Flashing is a moulded one piece flashing for weatherproofing the junction where the timber joist cantilevers from inside the building structure to the outside. This situation will arise with cantilever timber decks.

Pro Joist is manufactured from a single piece of UV stabilised polypropylene and is designed to flash dressed timber 47mm or 94mm thick and up to 250mm deep.

Scope of Use

The Pro Joist Saddle Flashing has been appraised for use as a saddle flashing for timber joists of cantilevered decks of buildings within the following scope:

the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solutions E2/AS1. Paragraph 1.1: and,
situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to and including Extra High.

Limitations on Use

Pro Joist Saddle Flashing cannot be left exposed to UV indefinitely. It must either be covered by scribers or a paint system.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

The Pro Joist saddle Flashing is designed to prevent water leakage around cantilevered joists. It is suitable for use as a saddle flashing as prescribed in NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Paragraph 7.2.11 and figure 16.

Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 (b), 15 years and B2.3.2. Pro Joist Saddle Flashing meets this requirement.
Clause E2 External Moisture: Performance E2.3.2. When used as part of the cladding system, Pro Joist Saddle Flashing will contribute to meeting this requirement
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. Pro Joist Saddle Flashings meet this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people
