Weathertex Weathergroove Panels
Description

Weathergroove is a vertically grooved timber cladding system suited to both residential and light commercial applications. Produced from 97% natural hardwood timber, it offers strong durability, design flexibility, and a choice of Natural or pre-primed finishes (Ruff Sawn, Woodsman, and Smooth).

The system includes Weathergroove panels, flashings, and accessories, and may be installed either over a drained and vented cavity or via direct fix. Panels are 9.5 mm thick and come in:

  • 3660 x 1196mm
  • 2745 x 1196mm
  • 2440 x 1196mm

Scope of Use

Direct Fix

The Weathertex Direct Fixed Weathergroove Panel Cladding System has been appraised as external wall cladding systems to timber-framed buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; and,
  • with a risk score of 0-6, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including, Very High.

Cavity Fix — Timber Framing

The Weathertex Cavity Fixed Weathergroove Panel Cladding System has been appraised as external wall claddings for timber-framed buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 for timber-framed buildings; and,
  • with a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including, Extra High.

Cavity Fix — Steel Framing

The Weathertex Cavity Fixed Weathergroove Panel Cladding System has also been appraised as external wall claddings for steel-framed buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NASH Building Envelope Solutions Paragraph 1.1 for steel-framed buildings; and,
  • with a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NASH Building Envelope Solutions; and,
  • situated in NASH Standard Part 2 Wind Zones up to, and including, Extra High.

Limitations on Use
  • Must only be installed vertically on vertical surfaces
  • Design details must follow the Weathertex design and installation documents
  • Must be installed by a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP)
  • Appraised for use with aluminium window and door joinery that is installed with vertical jambs and horizontal heads and sills
  • Joinery must meet the requirements of NZS 4211 for the relevant Wind Zone
Statement of Building Code Compliance

In the opinion of BRANZ, Weathertex Weathergroove Panel Cladding Systems, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of BRANZ Appraisal 513 and 514, will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. Meets the requirement for loads arising from self-weight, earthquake, wind, impact and creep [i.e. B1.3.3 (a), (f), (h), (j) and (q)]. 
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years, B2.3.1 (c) 5 years and B2.3.2. 
  • Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2. 
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1.
