CNZ PIR Insulation Board
Description

Polyisocyanurate (PIR) is a closed-cell, rigid foam board insulation. It is widely used in residential and commercial construction markets. Because of its strong thermal performance and fire resistance properties, it is the product of choice for energy-aware architects, specifiers, builders, building owners, contractors, and consumers.

CNZ Insulation stock PIR Insulation with Glass Fabric and Embossed Foil facers from 40mm to 150mm thick. Additionally, offering customised PIR solutions, including custom sized boards, custom facings, profile cut PIR and laminating other surfaces or products to PIR.

Scope of Use

CNZ PIR Insulation Board is versatile and can be used internally or externally as the insulation product for walls, ceilings, skillion roofs, underfloor, slab edge, insulated precast concrete, exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS), warm roofs, soffits, and anything else that requires thermal performance. It is suitable for use in new buildings, extensions, and renovations, delivering the highest thermal performance with some of the thinnest possible solutions.

The PIR core has a closed cell structure, making it highly resistant to water absorption, and suitable for use in damp environments. The Aluminium Foil Board has a higher vapour resistance due to its foil facing.

CNZ Insulation offer custom profile cut board for a range of applications such as slab edge, tapered board, roof corrugations, pipes, and amenity insulation. Additionally, they can laminate alternate custom surfaces to their board such as plasterboard or plywood. This can speed up the installation on site as well as servicing unique project requirements.

Limitations on Use
  • Care should be taken to select the correct thickness / R-value and facing for the application.
  • Installation should be conducted by contractors experienced with working with rigid board insulation.
  • For commercial in slab floor insulation, where there are requirements for a product with a very high compressive strength, PIR may not be the best option. Speak to CNZ Insulation about the range of XPS for this application.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

CNZ PIR Insulation Board is primarily used for thermal insulation and will greatly contribute to attaining H1 compliance, as it can be used within a cavity, in a ceiling, between rafters and floor joists, underfloor, as well as on the external envelope. Using CNZ PIR Insulation Board will also assist in increasing the R-values of floor slab insulation. The high R-values provided by CNZ PIR Insulation Board will allow building methods to remain the same without resorting to thicker wall assemblies to achieve compliance to the new H1 regulations.

CNZ PIR Insulation Board has excellent fire protection properties meeting Group 2 and Group 3 ratings. Additionally, it is tested to AS1366.2 and the closed cell structure PIR offers provides an extremely low moisture transmission rate of 10-15 g/m² — 24hr.
