BiForm Forest Board
Description

Created using the same successful board composition as the FORM 130 and FORM 140, BiForm now offer a board that is specifically engineered for surface fixing only. It has been formulated especially for Australian and New Zealand high UV conditions and has been extensively tested by the Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ), thus holding a BRANZ Appraisal.

Scope of Use

This 138mm x 20mm board will be more appropriate for, but not limited to residential outdoor decking options, as well as commercial applications where suited. This profile is most commonly used on forest walkways, as a part of the Kauri Dieback programme.

Limitations on Use

When being used to form any part of an access route to the main entrance of a building, the BiForms composite decking surface must be coated with an appropriate non-slip coating. 

BiForm Ltd have had testing completed with a coating, meeting the requirements of AS/NZS 3661, and achieved a slip resistance in excess of 0.4. BiForm Ltd have also had testing completed without a coating to the Oil-Wet Ramp test method contained in AS 4856, which is an alternative solution. The decking achieved a slip resistance classification of R11 for both the smooth and grooved sides.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

In the opinion of BRANZ, if it is designed, used, installed, and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of Appraisal No. 680 (2015), BiForm's WPC Decking will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, & B1.3.4. BiForm's WPC Decking meets the requirements of loads arising from self-weight, imposed loads, and impact [i.e. B1 3.3 (a), (b), (j)]
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years. BiForm's WPC Decking meets this requirement.
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. Biform's WPC Decking meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.

Biform's WPC Decking has been appraised as an alternative solution in terms of New Zealand Building Code compliance.

In-Service History

BiForm's composite has been on the NZ market since 2008. Since it’s introduction, it has been installed in various different settings including residential houses and apartments, schools, marinas, restaurants and retirement villages.
