A new school located in Rolleston enthused both architects and educators at the opportunity for the expanding of the local area’s learning environments. Of all features they want, one thing shines through: natural light, and lots of it.
“We decided to go with VELUX skylights because they are the most suitable products for this situation. When you look at the footprint of the learning spaces, they’re quite deep,” explained Architect Ian Maclean of Stephenson & Turner.
Over 40 VELUX Skylights were part of the building, they also have auto blinds, a very useful feature that allows the teacher to dim the room for certain situations. If you didn’t have natural light coming in, the middle of these spaces would be dark and unwelcoming. The skylights do a great job of brightening central spaces, for both teachers and students.
Everyday learning and teaching is made easier and more enjoyable by natural light provided by the VELUX Fixed Skylights. This skylight was used to create natural and sustainable lighting solutions to a wide variety of spaces: narrow corridors, internal courts, studios, large circulation spaces and more.
By enhancing learning spaces, they not only improve teaching and learning performance but also improve health and wellbeing.
