The Future is Bright with VELUX Skylights

At Lemonwood Grove School, gone are the days of dark classrooms, illuminated only by fluorescent lights.

Both teachers and students are reaping the benefits of a more naturally lit environment, with workspaces that are light, calm and welcoming, students settle into work quickly, they are focused, and can see better, with the addition of 40 VELUX skylights. So it’s no wonder, in a recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Education, the importance of natural light was one of the top three factors in classroom design.

VELUX skylights can also be retrofitted into existing buildings — giving all schools and education providers the ability to bring older, dark classrooms into the light. All VELUX skylights have a Low-E coating on the outer panes, blocking out 99% of harmful UV rays and provide great thermal insulation, while the toughened safety glass prevents any rouge cricket balls from disrupting the days’ learning.
