The advent of 2cm thick porcelain pavers has really broadened the scope of materials on offer for creating gorgeous hardscape areas. Designed for exterior use, porcelain pavers bring all the aesthetics and technological benefits of interior porcelain to your exterior landscape areas. Hardwearing, anti-slip, they are hugely versatile and offer so many more design options than traditional concrete pavers.
Most of the porcelain pavers on the market replicate or are inspired by natural stone. Travertine, sandstone, granite and limestone designs are all available in a multitude of aesthetics and colours. Being porcelain, they are more affordable than natural stones, harder wearing and do not require sealing.
The latest addition to the range of 2cm porcelain pavers at the Tile Depot brings one of the most sought-after styles for interior tiled areas, to the outdoors: terrazzo. Authentic terrazzo is not a natural stone, but a composite of marble, granite, quartz and even glass chips, all bound together with a cement-like base. Porcelain terrazzo is instead a terrazzo pattern that’s applied onto a porcelain tile, giving all the beauty without any of the required sealing or ongoing maintenance needs of real terrazzo.
The 2cm Terrazzo pavers at The Tile Depot are available in two colourways, 2cm Terrazzo White which is a warm, sandy colour, and 2cm Terrazzo Mid Grey, which is a cooler grey option. Both colours are available in 600 x 600mm pavers and replicate the variation of stone chips and aggregate sizes found in terrazzo. A really attractive and practical design for exterior areas, the patterning ensures everyday wear and exterior debris isn’t so obvious — perfect for high traffic areas, entertaining areas, BBQ surrounds and general outdoor areas for busy households with pets and children.
Designed specifically for exterior use, like all porcelain pavers they are resistant to stains, salt, frost and temperature changes. They are waterproof, mould and chemical resistant and have a high tensile strength. They are impervious to the effects of weathering and will remain colourfast and unvaried over time. They don’t require sealing or regular cleaning and are easy to install — able to be dry laid onto sand or gravel like traditional concrete and stone pavers, installed on elevated deck jacks as well as adhered to a solid substrate.
Ideal for stepping-stone pathways, patios, elevated decks, entertaining areas, exterior staircases and poolside areas, even carports, ramps and both residential and commercial settings. Porcelain pavers are incredibly versatile. They are also DIY friendly as demonstrated in the attached images of patio project constructed over one weekend.
