Since establishment in 1951, the company has utilised recycled materials to produce long lasting and environmentally friendly products that meet or exceed expectations of users on an international scale.
Burgess Matting and Surfacing also works in conjunction with architects, designers and specifies to adapt, alter and innovate to create products that accommodate the various installations. During the tile product development, they worked with Ian Athfield in the launching of the 1540 1mx1mx15mm black tile to be located in the Adam Art Gallery. The idea of the tile was initiated through the interests and design of Ian Athfield, whilst formulation and execution was undertaken through the team effort at Burgess Matting.
Since the development of the 1540 tile, the product has been promoted in various situations that are installation or function specific. The inherent properties of the rubber composition support better acoustics, greater durability, comfort and non-slip health and safety benefits.
