Mastering H1 Compliance with RoofLogic Systems

Recent updates to H1/AS2 have introduced new insulation performance requirements that significantly impact the design and specification of roofs and facades. The updates emphasise the importance of insulation as a barrier between a building’s interior and external environment, reducing reliance on energy and fossil fuels for heating and cooling.

Meeting H1 requirements involves more than just adding insulation. There has been a rise in mould and condensation in brand-new buildings due to designs that have lots of insulation but neglect hygrothermal considerations. Insulation must be properly distributed, with most of the thermal resistance positioned on the exterior of a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) or air barrier. Without this, warm, moist air inside the building can reach its dew-point temperature and condense on cold surfaces like steel roofing and cladding, leading to structural damage and poor indoor air quality.

Well-designed warm roofs and facades provide a solution for meeting H1 requirements.

RoofLogic has been at the forefront of introducing these systems in New Zealand, supported by extensive research. RoofLogic's solutions are compliant across all climate zones and have been rigorously tested for structural, fire, acoustic, and hygrothermal performance.

RoofLogic’s systems include:

FiberthermX

A cost-effective, high-performing system designed in NZ to withstand demanding wind, snow, and seismic loads (SLS and ULS). The result of a decade of research and development, FiberthermX has an aluminium post and rail assembly that is structurally 500% stronger than other systems on the market, offering durability of up to 50 years. This system efficiently separates the outer skin from the internal LinerDeck, utilising Mineral Glasswool for superior thermal performance and a non-combustible build-up. With its low embodied carbon, FiberthermX is also an ideal choice for Greenstar projects.

Ultratherm MSR

An insulated metal roof assembly, featuring PIR or Stonewool insulation that delivers outstanding thermal, acoustic, fire, and structural performance. This versatile system has become a trusted choice for commercial buildings across New Zealand, offering reliability and efficiency in a wide range of applications.

Ultratherm Extreme

A high-performance insulated membrane roof assembly, featuring PIR or Stonewool insulation for exceptional thermal, acoustic, and structural performance. Available with either FiberTite KEE membrane or Derbigum two-layer Torch on, Ultratherm Extreme is the perfect solution for low-pitch roofs and is popular for high-profile buildings where performance and durability are paramount.

RoofLogic’s systems have been successfully installed on many diverse projects, from classrooms to convention centres and large warehouses. For expert advice on navigating H1/AS2 updates and optimising building performance, contact RoofLogic.
