The requirement for sound isolation in buildings doesn't mean sacrificing the freedom to maximise floor space or wall heights in applications such as inter-tenancy rooms.
The unique design of the GIB Rondo Quiet Stud is part of an innovative system providing acoustic control whilst maintaining the ability to maximise room space. Quiet Studs’ single profile eliminates the need for staggered stud wall designs, meaning that a smaller footprint, and less steel, is required to achieve superior acoustic performance.
In addition to the original 0.55mm, Quiet Studs are also available with base metal thickness (BMT) of 0.75mm, meaning increased wall heights and maximised stud centres are possible, creating more design flexibility, and to meet code requirements for wind, seismic and gravity loads.
Where noggings are required, the Rondo Fast Fix Nogging can be used to support the Quiet Stud System without compromising acoustic performance.
Quiet Stud, combined with appropriate lining board systems and good acoustic practice, forms an effective buffer against unwanted noise, and is suitable for:
- Acoustic control provisions
- Acoustic wall systems
- Non-fire rated systems
- Fire rated systems
The Quiet Stud System is also time and cost effective. With virtually the same installation as a standard drywall construction, integrating with standard 92mm Rondo top and bottom wall tracks, labour costs, installation time and complexity are lower than other acoustic methods.
From court rooms to birthing units, and apartment buildings, the GIB Rondo Quiet Stud System has been a trusted solution for achieving sound isolation in internal walls, without compromising on space, added labour costs or complexity.
Recent Quiet Stud System projects include:
- Hotel Grand Chancellor, Auckland
- CDHB Birthing Unit, Canterbury
- Te Rangi Hiroa Student Accommodation, Dunedin
- Huapai Country Club, North Shore
- Quest on Kilmore Hotel, Christchurch (Pictured. Project photos supplied by Potters Christchurch and installed by Apex Interiors South Island.)
