Paint Systems for Aged-Care Facilities

According to Statistics New Zealand, the number of people aged 75+ is projected to grow at the rate of 8000 per annum over the next four years (2012-2016) and 10,500 per annum over the following five years (2016-2021), before peaking at a rate of over 16,000 per annum in the period 2021-2026. By 2031 the population 75+ will have more than doubled to over 516,000.

One of the key considerations when specifying paint systems for aged-care facilities is odour and reducing interruption to the day-to-day operations of the facility. Dulux recommends the use of the Dulux Professional Enviro2 range for bedrooms, corridors and general-use areas. This range has a very low VOC content which means that it is very low odour for effective turnaround on room vacancies and minimising impact on residents. This range also has excellent opacity properties, low splatter and easy touch-up for ease of ongoing maintenance.

The Dulux Professional Enviro2 range is available in a wide range of colours, including many of the Dulux Colours of New Zealand Range.

For wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms, Dulux recommends Dulux Wash & Wear Kitchen & Bathroom. This product is very hardwearing and has a seven-year anti-bacterial guarantee, perfect for protecting the health of residents.
