Prefabricated Exterior Framing Minimises On-Site Waste

The ethos of Outdure’s product range is around smart and efficient construction. Central to the offering is QwickBuild, an alternative to traditional timber sub-frame deck construction.

QwickBuild has been engineered for durability and designed to minimise time on site. Supplied as prefabricated, made-to-measure frames or as a kit-set, time is dramatically reduced on site and wastage of materials is zero in comparison to traditional framing methodology of 10-20% wastage. To accurately specify product and limit wastage, Outdure provide a design and specification construction drawing service that ensures that the decks are designed with minimum wastage. The innovative QwickBuild 'smooth curve’ joist also allows for efficient installation of curved, organic shapes.

In keeping with a commitment to waste reduction, QwickBuild is the perfect complement to Outdure’s premium quality recycled decking board ranges — ResortDeck, CasaDeck, and EcoDecking. In comparison to hardwoods, the environmental benefits include no staining required, longevity and the capability of recycling or upcycling at the end of their lifecycle. Onsite installation wastage of Outdure decking boards is less than 10% compared to wastage of hardwood 10-20%.

Aluminium offcuts are sent for two local recycling plants. In addition, Outdure is also very conscious of product packaging, minimising plastic and opting for recycled cartons and printing where possible.

All Outdure’s projects exemplify a focus on minimising construction waste which can be viewed on the comprehensive gallery section on their new website.

Complementary to focus on waste minimisation is designing efficiently for space maximisation. With space at a premium, it makes sense to make the most of every usable space. Car parking buildings often have a large unused roof space; this area can be transformed into a multipurpose outdoor living space or common area. In the example of Ryman's Aged Care Complexes, QwickBuild has been used as the sub-structure to support the lawn bowl greens. The same innovation has been used to maximise the car park space at Smales Farm B:Hive development.

QwickBuild can be installed directly over the waterproofing membrane of the car park podium and offers the flexibility to use a combination of decking finishes to provide usable outdoor living space.
